BOTOX™® Cosmetic is the product name for Allergan’s cosmetic wrinkle-removing drug. It is a therapeutic muscle-relaxing agent that works at motor nerve endings (nerves that lead to muscles). The drug used for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate-to-severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. Frown lines come from muscles called corrugator and/or procerus muscles. When the drug is injected into the muscles surrounding the eyes, for instance, those muscles can not "scrunch up" for a period of time. So the wrinkles in that area, often referred to as "crow's-feet," temporarily go away.
Juvéderm is a transparent hyaluronic acid gels that are injected into facial tissue to smooth wrinkles and folds, especially around the nose and mouth. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is produced naturally by the body. It works by temporarily adding volume to facial tissue. Juvéderm is injected into areas of facial tissue where moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds occur, restoring the skin’s youthful appearance by reducing these wrinkles and folds. In a clinical study most patients needed one injection to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing. The smoothing effect lasted from six to nine months.
